A jewelry box is a woman’s treasure trove. Every precious item collected over the years will find a place in it. Each bauble has its own little story, which makes jewelry boxes hold a great deal of sentimental value.

Such pieces of jewelry are undoubtedly gorgeous and deserve to be stored in beautiful boxes. One of the first few steps to cleaning your box is to remove all the clutter that has accumulated in it. Over time, most of us tend to hang on to pieces that may be broken, have lost a pair, or just don’t hold our fancy any more.

When you finish removing the clutter, the next step is to clean the box. Jewelry boxes are commonly made of wood and come with soft lining on the inside made of velvet or some such material. Take out all the pieces of jewelry you have and make sure that you keep them in a safe purse or container or you run the chance losing the pieces from your bed or table.

Spread out your jewelry neatly so that they don’t tangle up with one another and run the risk of scratching their surfaces. When you place delicate jewelry along with those that have rough edges you run the risk of tarnishing them.

Once the box is empty you can turn it over and shake loose the dirt and dust that is there in it. When you finish removing the clutter, the next step is to clean the box. Jewelry boxes are commonly made of wood and come with soft lining on the inside made of velvet or some such material.

Next use a dry cloth to wipe down the soft interior of the box. If there are spots you are unable to reach, use a child’s ear-bud to get to them.

With the dust out of the way, you can complete the wipe down with a damp cloth to remove any stubborn patches of dust or tape is also used to remove dust and lint from velvet. Air the box out thoroughly before you take a dry cloth and once again rub down the soft interior.

Clean the mirrors in the box with any glass cleaning solution you have handy. With that out of the way you can now replace your pieces of jewelry.
