For example, the adornment of our ears fell out of favour during the Middle Ages. The reason for this is simple – married women with their heads uncovered in a public environment were frowned upon. By the time the 1500s had come around, women were much more outgoing in the way they presented themselves and hair would be worn up with both ears exposed. As time has progressed, earrings have well and truly become a popular option and pearls in particular are the high society choice for ladies these days.
